SOPA blackout darkens the web

It has just struck midnight, and today is now Wednesday, Jan. 18–aka–The SOPA  blackout. Sites like Google, Reddit, BoingBoing and others are either completely shutting down or blacking out text and pictures to make a statement against the Stop Online Piracy Act. You may have heard various celebrities and pundits say that this will “destroy” the Internet, and you might be thinking it’s a total reaction. But, check out what the bill would actually do. As my 16-year-old brother Jon likes to say, “it’s just a bunch of old dudes trying to act like they understand the Internet. They think they know the Internet. Nobody does.”

You can also go to the google homepage today and use their zip-code search bar to contact your Congresspeople.
